Dave Lebental, Karma Train-Mulberry Drive

Know your way to the past? Dave Lebental gives us a splendid song with Mulberry Drive, and he gives us a guided tour. With the talented Karma Train, this is part of Stylus, their latest album. Mulberry Drive has all the ingredients of a nostalgic karma track; it is designed to be sentimental fodder in every way. Before reaching the chorus, you’re treated to an exciting, emotional hook rich with piano elements. As the drums bounce with percussive soul, Dave returns with a hook even Deep Purple would be proud of. It reminds you of glory rock, especially Dave’s raw voice and thematic ambition. When melodic breaks will take you elsewhere, Karma Train gives you a dense, emotionally rich rhythm section. I might not have even left the comfort of my headphone earmuffs, but I just went for a spin to Mulberry Drive:

CATSINGTON – many gears ago

The formula for their tone is published at the end of the song. I’m kidding; that comes with an ear for detail and a love for music. With soulful keys giving you the rhythm for the song, percussion slowly hints at itself. CATSINGTON have always been unpredictable in their choice of genres and themes, but this is an exciting number. Something that begins like an R&B number transitions into a funk groove that will surround you. I especially enjoyed how minimal the chords were – while the bass and drums, along with the percussion section, gave the real texture to the song. The spoken word, whispering track added that layer of mystery while being a home for steady thrill. The collection itself has 7 songs that add to the wide-ranging palette CATSINGTON have always offered. Switch to cruise control for this one:

The New Citizen Kane – Café Life

I’ve chosen this song with calculated precision. The New Citizen Kane has been a friend to music and melody for a long, long time. Cafe Life is an incredible atmosphere that will eventually become the fuel for your 00s pop-attuned car. Are you going to pause the song midway? It’s really what is keeping you going. PSYCHEDELIKA thrills you with stripped-down versions of his songs, showing that a virtuosic composer can show you a whole other painting by just tilting the light. As the 15th song on the album from 2025, which became an EDM-powered number, music here is meant to be enjoyed as you’re receding into bliss, and having a catalyst like Citizen Kane helps. Kane Luke gives us a treat which moves you as an art form – the album art, the grooves and the deep understanding of who stares at the art. Find it hanging on the walls at Café Life:
