Esto-Instant Dream
Let the source code of alt-rock reverberate with newfound energy. Esto are here to make you tremble in your socks. Their latest album is a layered treat that brings descriptive, detailed tones with the imagination of a pre-internet band. I’m talking about that visceral hunger. Instant Hunger brings fury in a capsule that’s a ticking time bomb. As soon as the muted riff begins, you’re attuned to the tempo while vocals introduce you to the theme. The talented band doesn’t leave the riff as a chord progression, but a playground to experiment on while having sensational detail. By the tone that they have arrived on, there is a gamified reality to their music that feels like the final boss of a video game you have been sucked into. And that chorus? chef’s kiss :
Rosetta West-Boneyard Blues
Authentic blues rock in 2025? Might be an ad rerun from the 80s. Yet, Rosetta West bring an authenticity to the genre that might count them as the indie leaders of the same today. Boneyard Blues is the opening single of God of the Dead. A collection of vivid and groovy tracks, the opening single is a crowning jewel and refracts so much style. It’s the kind of slide guitar riff that has characterised the genre, while raspy vocals attack you with purpose. Thematically, they give you a song worthy of a sabbatical long drive that you might not want to return to mediocrity from. Simple in execution-yet true to the art form in every way. The prolific musicians that form Rosetta West are going to forever keep the lights on:
Love Ghost-Spirit Box
If you haven’t heard of Love Ghost, you have probably entered the indie scene late. The band has been known for intense collaborations, experimenting through genres and a fan base that has grown exponentially. With their latest single, Spirit Box, they bring soothing vocals with the glowing ember of a spirit who keeps company. Just piano accents are the tempo pushes, till the bridge will leave you with goosebumps. Like a ballad, it has structure that focuses completely on the vocals-till you construct and manifest that world around you. When the trap beats come in for percussion-you’re drawn into the aspects of the song that might hurt you. Incredibly vulnerable, yet well constructed to show a side of people they often don’t:
