Lawrence Timoni-Good Enough (Still I Try)

You don’t need to be flashy to be funky. Lawrence Timoni is the perfect example of music being true matter– a treat to the ears and a tipped hat to the cause. His latest EP is a reminder that live music has a charm that you just cannot erase or overcome with synthesised flow. The way he plays with the bass line and his vocals are caramel sticky. This is Nile Rodgers giving a flow to the tempo that keeps the number refreshing like a summer breeze, while accenting the strengths that Lawrence has. Life’s a Mess and Brighter Still are able to bring a continuity to the drama that are his astute observations and clever compositions. Listen to it here:

Janet Devlin-Back to My Senses

Country with a characteristic charm. From Gortin, County Tyrone-Janet Devlin breaks a lot of the mould of the “traditional country singer”. Yet when she sings, she sounds like it was all she was meant to do. Having that tenor that Ms. Parton had, Janet Devlin is able to bring the emotive flurry of the narrative while emphasising on the tone with a cursive clarity. When she turns to falsetto, it is the passion of a singer who is able to tell fairytales with the spirit of Scheherazade. As the instrumental flow carries her voice, she carries the crisp conversation behind the song and the thrill it brings, no matter how many times you listen to it:

Social Gravy-These Are The Times

Oasis in an interdimensional oyster shell. Social Gravy are a representation of how society has manifested itself, and they uncover its mask through music. The band comprising Brad Kohn and Vee Bordukov comes from the sunny state of LA. While they maintain a worldview that is unique, they are able to sing songs that resonate to people on the other side of the country. Lone Wolf, Fools and other songs by the duo have been an envelope that buries a letter in the time capsule that is indie music. There are deeper carves, interesting rhythms, soft percussions and soft rock aesthetic that live music lovers enjoy. From vocals to the lyrics that they compose, they’re representing the times:
