Leazes-Melissa in Action

Feels good to have feel good rock back. Leazes are more than another ripple on the surface of the water. They surf the wave of an alternative moment that revives ‘feeling music’ again. Whether it's a relatable lyrical line that takes you back, or makes you feel hopeful for the future-the entire wheel of time is in their wheelhouse. Quick, acerbic and fun in their delivery and magnetic is what Leazes is in their performance. They power through with a drive that lies in bands that have the eye of the tiger. When the chorus roars in, you can almost visualise the crowd bouncing to the tempo. The kind of things that give you goosebumps and a good laugh, catch them in action:

Phil-Mind at Ease

You’re telling me the second after hitting the play button didn’t feel like a rush of retro? You liar. You felt an amalgam of 20 rock and roll bands from the 80s as a singular sound. One Phil might have ruled the 80s, this one brings the 2020s to life with that same fire. From when the guitar squeals to life, to how the lyrics are sung with gusto, this kind of rock puts my mind at ease. The future of music looks bright. Phil Woloch might have formed this young band recently, but the musicianship comes from an era that defined many people’s childhoods. Woloch keeps the swing going with his understanding of the groove, which is too natural to dismiss. Your therapy for the week:

Sdante-Your Smile Got Me

Might as well soak in all the retro. Sdante has us captured with his cover of Tears for Fears and Kate Bush-but his original track will bring a smile to know there is music that can impact you positively. From the electro layers and drum work-the top most dense layer is what makes this song ridiculously fun. Your Smile Got Me has all the ingredients of classic rock being revived in the contemporary age. The vocals and air the song brings about is delectable, textured yet simple enough to consume without having to wonder what’s AI or not. This is as human as music gets, from the lyrics to the kind of themes that the musician brings to life. Man, such a fun chorus to sing along to. Try it:
