Moon Construction Kit-Right Across the USA

Olivier, as Moon Construction Kit warps that entire experience through this groovy, enticing song that not just captures the tempo of travelling through the country but does so like we’ve seen in the movies. The multi-instrumentalist and musician from Lausanne, Switzerland, is able to visualise and melodically transcribe what can only be dreamt by people in the other hemisphere. Synthwave hints, that early 00s radio rock and a definitive pace keep you on the toes throughout the song. I could not think of anything more fitting to start your experience off with a road trip. Continue down the path with Down the West Coast, and you have something breathtaking for a journey for the books:

Maria Grazia Altea-Black Out

There is a haunting, lasting experience when you listen to Maria Grazia Altea sing. Her work is reminiscent of many singer-songwriters but carries a burning desire for making music that is as real as the thin paper rolled around to make your cigarette. Black Out starts with her raspy voice paired with an acoustic guitar fingerpicking in the background. There are beautiful harmonic parts that add to the frills and dramatic shadows of the song. Each line seems more personal than the last, almost like torn, stained pages of a journal. There’s credit to be given to recording engineer/producer and mastering extraordinaire Benedetta Sotgiu for this track as well. In some moments, the bends and strains in her voice will remind you of Winehouse’s slower songs. Maria is a brilliant musician who can bring any colour into your life, in effect:

Sweet Mess-The Warning 

Let doom take over. Sweet Mess are local legends that can shake up the international platforms they choose to, whenever they please. Not only do they give killer covers, but The Warning showcases their taste and style in making their own compositions. Singer Sylvie enters a dark curtain set by the guitar, bass and drums in this one, a reserved pace while opening. Like a foreboding theme, this comes in warping the light. When we approach the chorus, they give it to us crashing like a hard rock/metal punch. This is not only how live musicians did in the 80s, but also the kind of lessons you want to carry on forever. Tones are heavy, unique vocal and instrumental textures swap between the songs to carry that premonition through phases of the song.
