Swamp Music Players-Florida Keys

A slice of the past, twice of the future. Swamp Music Players have an approach to composition that is a steady stream of progress. They’ve been able to formally deduce the perfect balance of live instruments with the retro charge of rock and pop that dominated radio waves through the years. Florida Keys has the kind of riff you feel you’ve heard, but takes you on detours which sound country as well. Willy Bo Walker brings his unique tonal temperature to the song, making it a campfire toast treat to behold. Melodic reveries flow along with the narrative styled lyrics. Themes are the kind you want to dive into–charged with a power of vocal versatility and instrumental vigour. Check out their latest tune here:

Marcus: The Apex Predator!-Newborn Fossil

Ever heard of Sonic Youth? A band that inspired many others as the counter current of culture? Marcus: The Apex Predator! is the kind of band that represent the true kick of live compositions. It is inherently human, not due to the lyrical expression but how each phrase and verse is committed to by the whole band. From their 2018 album The Fury of Almost, the band has had a realisation of how much they need to lean into their feral, sharp-edged tool of music and really bank on it. Marcus: The Apex Predator! is the perfect representation of a band that wants to sound like a group of people coming together to make music. Newborn Fossil puts the crack in the shell as a brilliant opening number:

Spyderhuff-Cold Hard Bliss

A journey so vivid, you’d want to take it again. Spyderhuff found the sound they want to be associated with long ago. They are a testament to how music and genres have evolved, but there is much to experience in the ruses of old. Cold Hard Bliss has a bluesy opening, with soothing string sections guiding you through a creek of curated tones. Love is a cold hard bliss, is the line that will stay with you–the heartbeat like percussion adds that flavour to the song that keeps the tale in track. Spyderhuff shows their versatility lies in the appreciation for the music and how they approach it to totally invest your soul in their tune. A musical extravaganza for purists and peddlers alike:
