The Sea at Midnight-Our Brilliant Destruction
The Sea at Midnight shines a light on human orchestrated decimation. Our Brilliant Destruction is a song that becomes even more culturally relevant with all that is transpiring around us. Using a sombre ambience and the choicest notes that will reflect the moment, you can hear The Cure being a great influence. The song is all about tension and release. What is built up in the verse section sees a melodic outbreak in the chorus section that will keep your hair on end. The layers are like seeing layers of a comet burn through-referenced so beautifully in the album art. Focus on the production makes this a standout release from the catalogue. These are the sins we are burning for, and we seem to be blind to it:
Brian Noyes-Tapestries
The pop you experience now is not like any other you’re used to hearing. Brian Noyes has been inspired by some masters of composition. It is evident in the way he writes these organic melodies that swirl like wafting cinnamon pastries in the breeze. A stringed section adds a glaze to the fingerpicking, while Brian Noyes sings with a nonchalance. It is an observers' narration, which the Seattle-Washington based musician is able to capture so well. Tapestries is an inspired and delightful song which adds a lot of colour with leads, instrumental pockets that bring a splash of colour to your day. Your tailored cup of summer during these bitter winter months:
Cat Cork-Promise Me
The delicate oversight of Cat Stevens and essence of Iron & Wine is something Cat Cork carries well. The Australian musician has a unique perspective he is able to weave into melodies. Using a relatively bare background of an acoustic, he is able to bring the story to you, rather than take you there. It is incredibly visual, yet surreal to experience. The Post Man singer uses a simple chord progression that layers like the dusky skies, while emoting with a core feeling. It is a poetic reservation, which has great balance and a compassionate performance. The addendum of the string section is a visual catalyst that adds a lot of texture to the song. I promise you, you’ll hear this more than once:
