There are layers of prog, rock, and jazz in this week's 3 in 1 indie rock from Andrew Schneider, Monrad & Ari Joshua. Listen to the incredible music here with us!:
Andrew Schneider-Mermaid Smiled
You’re taken to the lap of nature with Andrew Schneider’s composition. Maybe it is how he is able to capture the ethereal nature of the ocean. It might be the exemplary sound design you see him execute. In taking us on this aural experience, he designs a certain lightness, while persevering with her sound. The guitars with distortion play with the acoustic to create a complex layering. Percussions are unorthodox, almost to formulate something Genesis would compose from the Duke years. You’re in a prog rock exploration in almost seconds, even though the tale takes you to the depths of the ocean. Andrew Schneider paints us the ocean, and you can experience a blue paradise:
Monrad-On Fire
In essence, Monrad has created something that is akin to a business card with his EP, Not by Design. It has some characteristic new wave elements, his raspy vocals, almost delivered in spoken word. His synth plays are unparalleled, making a structure that is sound, pun intended. On Fire is his opening single from the EP, and it has all the highlight aspects to make this the kind of indie revolution it promises to be. If you really delve into the layers, it is astonishing to imagine how well he has cascaded it all into this masterpiece. Monrad has his groove, his place, and has found his flow. Safe to say he’s on fire:
Ari Joshua-Cherry Peach
Ari Joshua returns with his trusted motley on the track Cherry Peach. Like the fruit, it is a tangy groove and has virtuoso instrumentalists coming together to make an unforgettable number. John Medeski, Billy Martin, Jason Fraticelli become a singular unit whose purpose is to enjoy this jam. You’re taken through various tempos and rhythm sections that are rich for improvisation. Ari Joshua designs yet another track that is difficult to press pause on. The prolific musician has a release almost bi-weekly-and its something amazing to look forward to. Cherry Peach is another fruit of his effort and love for the genre, and teaching music. Check out the groove here:
