Explore the post rock and alternative metal reveries created by Saves the Witch and Black Idol this week, with their latest brilliant singles. This is a ride you will never forget:
Saves the Witch- Abeam the Intrepid
The post rock miracle that Eric Maynes conjures for us is brilliant. It is the result of melodic dreaming, and going where the symphony takes you. The second single from the latest album by Saves the Witch, this track will spin you a golden womb to dissolve into. The attention to detail for the tones and ambiences is pitch perfect, notched note for note. It is an ethereal experience, transcending genres after a point, to just display emotion. When the effects scintillate you, it changes into a swinging rock riff capital almost instantly. This is your cruise control and gasoline turbocharge, all in one song:
Black Idol-Son of No Desire
A debut must have a signature to it. You have arrived, it must say, and Black Idol do so with their song. It is a blend of prog rock, art rock and alternative metal that they are amalgamating so well. Son of No Desire choose tones and instrumental elements that juxtapose and create a syncopating rhythm which you cannot keep track of. When the bridge arrives, you can race across to the melodic, beautiful chorus that is two words-hair-raising. The way the band create the pockets of melodies to explore sonically is amazing, hear it for yourself here:
