Jeremy Engel-Maybe I’m Wrong

Spend moments in quiet contemplation. Jeremy Engel doesn’t write music that spreads across the board. These are pointed, specific strokes that speak like poetry and prose. His latest single is called Maybe I’m Wrong, an expression through a singer-songwriter dream. A simple percussive base is adorned with his lyrics and vocals with generous instrumental chord progressions. Rather than just have guitar strums, there's a string element that cohesively ties this whole experience together. The way it builds to the chorus then recedes again will remind you of the sea and the breeze. It’s a perfect indie rock track that shows us Jeremy’s vocal range and stylistic expression through these melodies. Whether it's the song Ocean or Something Real, this year he’s capturing emotions from the soul:

Dean Rök-Bad Wedding Day

Remember Billy Idol’s White Wedding? It’s an iconic track that you’d instantly associate with a marriage. Dean Rök has a return that has to be documented for the ages. His latest single opens with a sinister guitar riff with the distortion set to a crisp razor sharpness. When you hear his vocals for the first moment, you already know how deeply you’ll swim in admiration for the same. Rather than stay in the same melodic progression, he jumps through parts and involves a choir for harmonies that will give you goosebumps. This isn’t a rock anthem; it’s a journey through seasons and sessions. It’s almost like Dean has written a song for a movie soundtrack, and the climactic action sequence is unfolding in front of you. You’re lucky you’re not tying the knot here:

The Missingman-Earthshine

You deserve an ethereal lift into a space unknown. The Missingman is a project that explores the liminal through space and sound and themes. Earthshine almost sounds like the journey of the rays of the sun to the atmosphere of this earth. It is an incredible guitar progression, with soft tones and harmonies that almost make time recede. The lack of percussion allows you to hone into how the guitar sounds, with background elements being extracted for a gorgeous melodic capsule. As layers keep adding, it becomes a witnessing of nature unravelling itself in front of you. The atmospheric closing is what becomes the perfect aural cocoon for this song. You almost feel the gentle breeze carrying you away, and away…:
