Bring yourself to fall in love with the swing with indie rock from Joseph Turner & The Dudes of Hazard, Mister Chorister and Nancy Carey Johnson. Listen to their music here below!:
Joseph Turner & The Dudes of Hazard-The Shadow Remains
You just found your cinematic entry, and you have Joseph Turner to thank. This incredible musician has been making music that has a profound impact for quite some time now, and "The Shadow Remains" is no different. The track opens steady like a chugging train while you slowly but surely get into the groove. To feel that the occult-like chant isn't an entrapment would be a lie. As far as compositions go, this is one of the most unique and experimental ways in which a song opening has been attempted in the indie music scene. It passes with flying colours. The guitar work is passionate and rich, and yet it leaves space for the kind of build this song deserves. Vocals are delivered in a style that mirrors the rhythm, almost having a hip-hop-like aesthetic to it. Strange for an indie rock band, I know, but these are just some of the ways in which Joseph Turner and the band can surprise you:
Mister Chorister-Spark
You know the spark here reminds me of what a young artist would feel when they start making music. It's that passion; it's that burning desire; and most importantly, it's really banking on that naivety to make something incredible. Mister Chorister is no stranger to taking big risks. Christopher Scott Brammer dove in and took a leap of faith a while ago with Brave. In the new song Spark, the guitar work builds in the background along with the powerful, punchy percussions. Mister Chorister continues to become an emotion, a standing light of how energetic, thrilling music can be composed and played. While there is an obvious intense energy building in the song, like the edge from you too Mr. Chorister, it allows the guitar to carry the second half of the narrative. It pays off with the kind of compositional swagger you can only dream of:
Nancy Carey Johnson-Take Me To The River
I don't think I'm being particularly bold when I say Nancy Carey Johnson just made the perfect journey track. "Take Me to the River" is an acoustic fairy tale. The song carries the rhythm within the movement of the ukulele, guitar and Nancy's vocals. With a familiar chord composition galloping in the background, strong vocals command incredible energy and a picturesque frame through the lyrics. It's fair to say that this is how true songwriting is done, commanding a certain passion through style and voice to make something that is lasting and treasured by listeners. From her incredible EP called "Shine Your Light", this is the closing track, and it carries all the more weight when you listen to the EP in its entirety. Take Me To The River flows just like its muse does while you drive beside it all the way to the sea:
