Overbreak-Did You Know
Watch them cruise by like a sea breeze. Overbreak are from Sydney, and their style of rock is what you have missed from the 90s. Since they released My Dear Self in 2024-with a slew of singles before that;there was enough evidence that they can weave a story out of a stick and grain of sand. Did You Know is a rich, well punctuated alt-rock single that builds to a chorus that will tattoo itself on the folds of your brain. While harmonics sail over, the vocals come in like a wakeboard cutting a 20-foot wave. Is there crazy flashy crap to distract you? No-just a band enjoying themselves while performing this incredible single. Bassist-an additional kudos to you, you know what you did:
Joe Osgood & The Fathers of Light-Never Believers
Who said you couldn’t be inclined to believe? Joe Osgood & The Fathers of Light have an interesting sound-drawing from inspirations that becomes a smorgasbord of themes. Their music echoes of a retro rotoscope that has been placed in a laser vinyl player. This is bringing music from a time capsule with the sensibilities of now. Never Believers has soothing, soft tones with percussions that ebb away like desert sand. There are accents on the vocals, while the track builds to the kind of charge that The Verve used to carry in their music. You will find yourself afloat on rhythmic waves in each verse section-while you’re slid very simply upon the singsong chorus that is a shot of dopamine :
Love Ghost-Car Crash
Let a haunting melody take over your drive. Soft, like a classic rock ballad-Love Ghost writes something earnest and powerful with a minimal chord progression. It echoes with a pain that is derived from their love-punk music, but isn’t afraid to dwell on the hurt. Car Crash shows the maturity of a band that has always wanted to grow and let music speak your language. It is a wonderful song to dwell on, and closes with that same simplicity harnessed. This is a band that has collaborated in alt-rock, hip-hop and punk among others. In this soft piano based ballad-they show what music truly means to them as a lifeline. Now, they mean something substantial to music as well. Listen to the song here:
