Rare Seed-El Niño
You’d wish this was a one way ticket to paradise. Rare Seed are a hybrid offspring of many musical manifestoes, coming together to give shade under one giant tree. Ethereal Enclave is their latest album, with a collection of moods and feelings that are like psychedelic quiver for the spine. The opening single El Niño has this funky, summer groove to the progression and the path–along with generous laid back vocals that allow you to absorb the incredible geometries of the song. Just when you think they’d taper off the song to an incense wisp of diffusion, there is a jam that doubles time and gives you everything worth your dime. Production has been perfected by the 5-piece band as well, here’s that change in temperature:
Mark J Soler-Hanami
To keep the funk vibes alive, till the rest of time. Hanami is Mark’s gem in the crown, bringing his approach to composition with layering that keeps the narrative continuously evolving. It is drama you have earned within instrumental conversations–almost hearing them share an account of their innermost desires. As every style of instrument bares its face in the sunlight, Mark J Soler does due diligence and lets it share its incredible story. He has spoken through the orchestration the same way they have chosen to speak to him. Hanami is a wave of emotions, optimistic and positive–warm and inviting. A journal through his knowledge of the genres, here is your weekend mood crafted to the generous bowl of sunshine:
Crooked Cranes-Mehico
Good company, good food and good music. This trifecta has been achieved by Crooked Cranes, and they are responsible for at least 2 out of those 3 things. You can hear the positive vibrations in their latest EP, This is Only A Test. Debuting with some cool alt-rock, stoner rock and retro ripples, this music is a reminder that live music is very much alive. Simple chord progressions become the base of the song, while you can almost imagine the band close their eyes and groove to this. I was immediately taken to Dolfin after this track–giving us Tom Petty vibes in a Zippo flicker instant. From vocals to instrumentals, it's perfect in its choice to become as accessible to the ordinary, with this hint of extraordinary:
