Power through to the weekend with incredible indie rock from Scatterchild, Elvana and Hoxsey. Listen to their refreshing singles and give them a follow to know more!

Scatterchild-New Ocean

Imagine being taken somewhere familiar, but you have no idea where you are. Scatterchild is an incredible outfit from Manchester. This latest track, called "New Ocean", combines the anthemic songwriting and detailed complexities of Scatterchild while imbibing the talents of Quentin Wylie. From the moment the strings play and the vocals hit you, you are in a track that moves independent of time, a floating feeling you can't quite put a finger on. The percussion blends in like the pulse, where the melodies already have their own distinct rhythm. I really recommend listening to this song with headphones on, for the detailed woven instrumentation in the background might get missed in louder environments. “New Ocean” is the frequency of water you need to dive into, for if there’s a new wave coming, it's definitely this one.

Elvana-Viva Las Vegas

Worry not, for I will explain the band's name to you. Imagine the grace and swagger of Elvis Presley developing a time-warping aneurysm and winding up as the frontman for Nirvana. Elvana are rock and roll Elvis, but so much more, for this is a way to enjoy his songs you might have never imagined. Don't be pathetic and add this as a prompt for AI. Elana is able to do this with a very human, rockingly, shockingly powerful touch, and Viva Las Vegas might be one of my favourites. They've played live at the Download Festival in 2023, so imagine how the crowd swelled the moment they took the stage. A perfect balance of Nirvana and Elvis covers exists and you'd never guess that they go so well together. Viva Las Vegas combines the pomp, romp and stomp in diabolical proportions:

Hoxsey-The Road

You're going to be part of a drive you'll never forget. Hoxsey, along with Taliba Fields, releases an 11-track album called Ghost We Keep. The Road is one of the most invigorating tracks from the collection, having an intense rhythm and the perfect veil of mystery surrounding the song. Neither the chord progression nor the vocals and lyrics are orthodox. They take these twisting, daring turns to become something straight out of a horror thriller. Hoxsey has some incredible composition depth, bringing the heat out of each song and making the music a dramatic visual pairing. Rather than overpolishing the song, the raw power is felt in the way percussion splashes and fabricates this new realm to enter. Other tracks in Ghost We Keep have that same zeal, wanting you to keep exploring till you are trapped at the end of the road:
