Welcome the renegades of rock with music from SCHANZ, Haus of Sound & Joyce Tratnyek. Listen to the music from the superstars here:
SCHANZ-Long Distance to Go
You could sit and decipher what kind of rock SCHANZ is. Or you could sit back, crank up the gear and enjoy it. From the get-go, you’re subjected to a crunchy mix of distorted guitar, punchy percussion and a rhythm you can’t escape. The title track from their album AD/2, SCHANZ are able to pierce through the veil of commercial rock and make something that has levels of details and appreciation from different time sectors. Verse sections are sparse and spread out with atmospheric absorptions. When we kick into the chorus, you find yourself finding the same zeal and singing the song. It builds like a proper rock song should, and gives you that same dose of entertainment that made the trip worth it:
Haus of Sound-Mirage
When this band flew into our radar-it was like a glimpse of a stealth fighter gracing the skies. An amazing moment, and then you want to know everything about it. Haus of Sound have crafted a detailed sound from their incipience that sets them apart from their contemporaries. Mirage charges in that same direction, with experimentation tailored into the phantom thread of their DNA. The bass line takes my attention, while verse and build have instrumental parts that are unique to their approach. The hip-hop section might remind you of Linkin Park-but the song has a melodic run that is unique, representative of what has made them a band to look forward to. An industrial, metallic taste to an apparition that might disappear when you come closer:
Joyce Tratnyek-Loser Like Me
Remember Beck’s Loser playing through the radios all through the late 90s? If you’re young enough to not remember that, I pity you. With a riff and vocal aesthetic that would make Beck proud, Joyce Tratnyek refines her legacy in making music that triggers feelings-especially of pride, self-reflection and exciting rock resonance. I love how the details in vocals are paid attention to, micro triggers in where her vocals reflect the lyrics-and progressions aid the emotion behind it as well. The Still singer is able to compose and represent something that is more than her identity, while giving us a dynamic performance that will be a part of her plaque of fame. The lyrics might be saying something, but all I can see is a winner on a pedestal:
