Worldview-Can’t Come Back From That
The Oxford based artist brings quite a flurry of ideas and compositions in his latest album. Titled Everything is Temporary, there is pain, healing and titles with a few syllables. Worldview is Oliver Shaw, whose vocals shine after the theme is set when the song is played. It is a lesson is simplicity, providing a contrast of levity to the deeper lyrics. The chord progression has a highlight with the piano on the higher register, while Oliver’s vocals lives in the contrast. Though it is bare-bones, there are harmonics present which have a quite the depth. The second verse entertains an added instrumental layer, almost making you feel the progression of time. David & Goliat-You made My White Christmas Blue
That isn’t a spelling error. We aren’t talking about the same kind of David & Goliath, nor are we talking about the same kind of Christmas either. The pipes David Billström lays down the track with are in a state of melancholy. It is not an ordinary Christmas at all, yet he ensures the ambience of the season is present. It is pop rock that has a brilliant build, yet is very tied to the kind of emotions being felt. Billström is a talented composer, ensuring the rhythm of the song is really felt. Rich melodies play along with his simple vocal lines, making for a song that will last much longer than the season. Snow is a different colour this time:
Coma Beach-Passion
The brilliant punk rockers are back with an EP that is full of emotion. Passion is the first single, and it tries something new out. Raspy vocals open the song with memorable guitar parts, while the rhythm is teasing something bigger. The wait is more than enough, making an explosive entry into the half-time. Tempo and mood raising, Coma Beach have once again proven their reign over the indie punk rock scene. Raw and ravenous, they treat every song with the kind of passion they started this band with. The entire EP is filled with songs like Bliss & Nothing Right that turn up the amp, but in style. Feel their rage and reverence for the genre they love so much:
