Ring in the new year with brilliant rock songs from Books of Moods, The Kirk and Splitting Hairs. Listen to the power packed tracks here and follow the artists for more!:

Books of Moods-Fashion Romance

Indie rock needs a refreshing new spin. The authentic sound of Books of Moods comes from Hugo Sailer and the talented ensemble he has put together. Fashion Romance brings that indie rock ambience by choosing unique vocal routes, emotive lyrics-while knowing exactly where to elevate aspects with their organic harmonies. Even if you can hear certain references to their inspirations, they know how to tailor it to their peppy, reflective sub-genre of music. The track has a refreshing bounce to it, and Book of Moods own that melodic space with dominating charm. Rather than taper the track off, they play the rhythm like a sinusoidal wave, giving a great lift. A gorgeous outro keeps you wanting more, perhaps even loops back to the opening of the song:

The Kirk-New Years Day

Ring in the new year with the crisp, honest sound of The Kirk. The band has been able to bring a reflective sound that captures the season and sentimental essence in their melodies. Whether it's dance music or a celebration otherwise, the duo from the North-East of England have been able to extract the best of music from every generation. Never will you see them conform, especially not with a song like New Years Day. Whether it's vocal harmonies to the soft strings and acoustic guitar elements, every part is truly a highlight. Through the 5-minute song, we move from an acoustic gem to a synthwave and electro soaked number. The Kirk have achieved a balance in composition that is rare and lost through the years, and they capture it this year:

Splitting Hairs-Psychopaths

To answer it, no, it isn’t a demo. A demo is a band still looking for polish while looking for opportunity. Splitting Hairs have their debut EP out, and they’ve been able to capture some wild range and thrill in the tracks. Apart from being nuanced in the ways the melodies travel, the band have ensured they have the levity and floating melodic balance for the song to really highlight. Psychopaths feels familiar, yet isn’t. It is fresh, balanced and has the kind of core melody that makes you want to hum it. Leaning into simplicity, each note is purpose driven and enchanting in a different sense. Time seems to warp with what they design as a craft, and each song has another great part to obsess over. This is your sign:
