Rise with hope and rock revelry with music from Claire Helm & The Outside World, Linkin Machine and Ted Stanley. Listen to the tracks here:
Claire Helm, The Outside World-Nothing Changes
Better than the journey that you’re on. Claire Helm & The Outside World bring a symphonic delight with their album, Quicksand. From the fairy-light ecstatic breeze they bring, the bass line chugging with your car engine and Claire’s vocals ring true as well as create the sharpest contrast in terms of the theme. When she reaches the second verse, you can hear her powerful range commanding your attention. Guitar licks and highlights keep running through the background, bringing that gust of spice into the track. A memorable melody to keep singing along with, this is the kind of driving rock track that strings the past to the present to create a dramatic rise. The album has a wonderful mix of songs, all filtered through experiences of life and enriched with live instruments. Come, take a whiff:
Linkin Machine-Shadows
The musician from Akron actually understands how to delve into a melody. Listening to this album from the opening on, I was interested to see how many tracks reverberated with a bright blueprint. The track I’ve chosen is Shadows, for it really charges through with a rock vibe that is thumping while harnessing the emotive state of the melody. The chorus is the kite reeling away from you, taking glorious flight – with the wind beneath its chest. From the vocal performance touching on the experience as well as the metaphor that follows you to the end of the track, it is iconic. Iconic for the symbolism behind the shadow and the refreshing amount of energy and light it brings. Production also ensures you’re listening to all the details – from the vocal vibratos to the progressions that ride the swell:
Ted Stanley-Shoreline
Let’s take you back to the coast. Switch off the radio, for it seems like it’s Ted Stanley sitting in the backseat with us, playing this with his friends. Shoreline is a tale, an experience that everyone cherishes for the freedom it implies. It is the salty breeze that caresses your soul, or the sun setting over the horizon. Simple chord progressions are expressed through fingerstyle guitar elements, with soft percussions whispering in the background. Like any actual country track with matter, the strings imitate the waves of the ocean to become the tide on your doorstep. From Bottle in My Hand being expressed through so many versions and Between the Lines as well, Ted Stanley and his band are songwriters at heart, and art. Let’s go, back to the shoreline:
