Clay Goodman-Such Fun
Rock belongs to the rebels. Clay Goodman is a simple songwriter from Virginia, but his music has that depth and punch that commercial polish lacks. From the moment Such Fun plays, you can feel its a different chord progression than what you’re used to listening to. His vocals have a lighter, helium viscosity that floats over the track like an inert impression. Crisp tones and instrumental parts make the song an exciting alt-rock gem that you’ll want to keep returning to. It’s a capital track that will adorn the beginning of your playlist-with that analogue tone guitar solo that reverberates with a passionate energy. When he starts singing on the chorus, there’s a good chance you’ll join along. It’s such fun:
Lawrence Timoni-Where the Wind Knows Me
I know. It’s an unorthodox song to have on an indie rock list, but listen to it. Lawrence Timoni scrapes to the surface of why we play and listen to music. The reversed notes, the progressions and breezy flow is something else to listen to. When the track picks up-tempo, the strings will guide the car’s gear to a cruise that matches the wind. Vocals are bright, clean and melancholy-while transitions might almost make it seem like a drama infolding in front of your eyes. As the song closes, Timoni returns you to the place you left from, almost a poetic way of telling us that he knows where the wind comes from. The kind of music that makes you forget how time moves:
Razor Burn-Into the Void
Expect more of Razor Burn. It’s an artist I had never listened to, and immediately regretted I didn’t know sooner. It’s the kind of rock that makes young kids pick up instruments. Into the Void is an offering from the Australian band that strips back all the bells and whistles. You’re listening to the rawest, realest riff and delivery possible, and they nail it on the coffin. In every notation, you can hear how they must be setting the underground scene on fire with their music. Charged to the highest voltage-the tempo never drops, and the fury never stops. It is the kind of song that immediately gets you into a band, powering a movement that was bound to make a return. Watch them tread heavy:
