Conor Maradona-SNOWBALL
Conor isn’t playing music for you. He’s playing, and without realising, you’ve opened the door to the room in which he was playing this track, SNOWBALL. Rough in the edges the way raw music is supposed to be, this track has rich, bright acoustic guitar elements and a percussion that plays like your heartbeat. As layers come in, you’re already familiar with the track, tempo picking up. Harmonies float in the background to make this an engaging, stripped-back track. Conor doesn’t make the song vanilla either; it's the splendid songwriting you want to focus on. When he yodels, you can hear it echo as the entire pace of the song changes. Composed sharp, wrapped tight and sweet, this song is a repeat offender on my playlist:
Mick J Clark – I Want It More than You
I’ve always found comfort in the voice and musings of Mick J Clark. What started as a Christmas listen has become a place to go to when you want trusty rock ballads and retro breeze to charm your way. I Want It More Than You came in as a refreshing EP with some other hits that have become my melodic pals through the years. His voice is soothing yet carries a powerful energy. The guitar work is not strummed but plucked in the first verse. However, the build is what you’re listening for, a progression that leads the charge. I found the solo refreshing, something I can sing every time I play this song – which will be quite often. A crisp, memorable number that seeps deeper into your psyche as you play it:
Kelsie Kimberlin-Lady Liberty
There’s a wind of omens when Kelsie Kimberlin brings in her observations and style of music. Lady Liberty is more than a statement on the symbolism of the statue and what it stood for. It is Kelsie’s personal observation tied in, expressed in truth through art and sung the way it should be. There is a freedom in the music that she is expressing, in the melody that carries a melancholy, seeing a statue crumble without its foundation. It holds more relevance than ever while still carrying a rock echo that has a stadium-like prowess. The charge and emotions keep building through the song with stringed elements as Kelsie’s vocals become more emotive and expressive. Lady Liberty is blessed to have this song with respect to her. Composed with brilliance, in loving memory:
