Grainville Train-Sweet Freedom
This is the toasty, welcoming spirit of the country atmosphere. You need to breathe it in. Grainville Train might surpass your expectations and even assumptions. They are a band from Jyväskylä, Finland, yet they embody the whole arteries of country music. Active since 2008, they have won numerous awards and performed live so many times that the chemistry is palpable. Their latest track, "Sweet Freedom", has a heartbeat very close to what is happening in real events around the globe. A perfectly tuned electric guitar harmony comes in with great intent and design. They are able to write very poetically, all the things that feel human and real, while extracting some of the unseen, underappreciated moments from it. The vocals sound like the voice of your heart and soul, stitching together some of the best moments of freedom you've ever experienced in your life. Feel the winds of change:
Blake Baker-Calluna
Kudos on that jazzy, sexy track opening, Blake-it’s got our attention. The definition of a great singer-songwriter has remained the same since time immemorial. It's your character, your experiences, and your view of life coming together as an amalgamation of poetry and music. Blake Baker checks all those boxes and more, and his latest song, "Calluna," is an embodiment of all the talent he has. Choosing an incredible guitar tone, he complements it with his honey-coated, melodious voice that would make your head turn if you ever heard it, even in a noisy pub. Though it sounds and feels like a love song, there is an innate groove he has woven into the track, which comes out through soft percussion accents. The strumming, pauses, and time signatures are unique and give the song all that personality. Pair this with “We Night Owls”, and you have a dancing mixtape on your hands:
Lee Wright And The Wrong’uns-Feather Boa Thrower
So the theory remains true: Yorkshire produces some of the greatest musicians the world has experienced. Lee Wright And The Wrong’uns mirror the same ambition and passion that so many bands from the region have been able to tattoo into their own legacy. Their debut is strong, determined, and sounds different from your radio-friendly formulas that typically grace your ears. Feather Boa Thrower picks a familiar chord progression but changes the entire environment around it. From the layered dissonant harmonics combined with the lead vocals and chiming guitar playing in the background, you're looking at an immersion of styles that'll make your heart flutter. The sharp choice of words and the different musicians that inspired Lee Wright and informed his songwriting come out through sparkling moments of intonation. A track designed to make you soak in the introspection:
