The Parachute Testers-Halfway to Everywhere
There's a subgenre I would not like to associate with music but with the emotion of hope. It is something strong and human that we all look for, and The Parachute Testers do an amazing job of distilling something so potent and delivering it with grace. The opening of "Halfway to Everywhere" is a recognisable, memorable, and soothing chord progression, but what layers on top of it with the lyrics is what makes your mind travel. Vocals are moulded perfectly to the felted melancholy you can hear, and the staved-off emotions fountain through line by line. Claire Odlum and David Redfearn know how to render you a quilt of comfort through melody, and a journey is brought to your footsteps, rather than you going anywhere. Lyrics like this are a bygone era, and these kind of harmonies will bring goosebumps to your soul:

Fans imagine Pink Floyd would have gone a very different path if they had continued with Syd Barrett. From their latest album called Ebbs N’ Flows, you get to listen to the title track, something that uses a unique chord progression and style to create dynamism. The sound of the guitar and piano stands out in this dramatic and emotional opening, serving as a 7.5-minute-plus epic through different phases of time. The four-piece prog rock band based in New York City is able to seamlessly dip in and out of philosophy, existentialism and appreciates the depth of romanticising the world around us. You can liken parts of the song to the album Animals by Floyd as well. There might be erratic breaks, tempos that are very coded to human beings, and the impressionability of a band that is going to make quite the mark:
