E.R.I.E return as punk rock jocks with their latest EP, "The Highs"

E.R.I.E revive punk rock like the CPR pressure kick it’s supposed to feel like. The band from Albany, NY have brought some kickass music with their catchy riffs and supercharged performances. There is no doubt that the band will continue to put their best foot forward and have unearthly chemistry while doing so. It’s all tried, tested and perfected in their latest EP. This one is called The Highs.

E.R.I.E

What highs do you live your life on? For this band, their approach to it seems to be the biggest one. From the moment you click that green play button, you’re like a fly buzzing towards the fly trap. Simple punk rock chords wake you up like a friendly dose of morphine, vocals are simple yet urge you to sing along. A Lot to Think About. You might think punk is just a bunch of talented rockers destroying instruments at the end of their set. The chorus of the first song itself should change your opinion with substantial proof. Budget goosebumps, cheap thrills.

When you get to Over It, you’re very much under their influence. The distorted guitar notations hit you along with the anthemic percussion that slowly builds. Vocals seem to follow a percussive rhythm as well, especially in the bridge to the chorus. E.R.I.E puts a lot of effort into what they’re delivering. It’s just coincidence that they give you highs like mad honey.

Hard Headed follows one of their biggest sounds. It might be the constant guitar tsunami that seems to be chasing you. They also have a retro strain splicing through the entire collection, as though they are old-fashioned time travellers. E.R.I.E are the answer to the question, “is there any good live music anymore?” 4 letters and 4 songs is all you need.

Sydney Worthley joins them in the last song called Legacy Act. It is one of their most melodic songs, following a sine wave of melancholy and elation. The maturity and passion with which they deliver their music is second to none. Perhaps that’s why they can own their high:
