Andrei British-Power Up (ft. Bec Hollcraft)

There's no way Elvis wouldn't be proud. Andre British has always been able to extract the most human parts of music in his compositions. His latest single, "Power Up," is no different, featuring Bec Hollcraft on vocals. This one carries the swing all the way into the tall orders at midnight. "Power Up" is a catchy, fun, and groovy tune, with instruments working in such miraculous layers you remember the good old times. The piano work in the background is reminiscent of Jerry Lee Lewis, and the tune itself has that generous spirit of familiarity while nurturing a much fresher take on this kind of swinging rock. Andrei’s music has been able to give us a taste of the American nightlife, culture and music, almost as though we were visiting it. You might be feeling low, but this is the song you need for a power-up.:

The House Flies-Derelict Crawl

I just revisited some great tracks by the Melvins a few days ago, and The House Flies have taken me back to the same place. It is an intense, gutsy rock that carries that sludge feel all the way to the bank. "Derelict Crawl" starts with booming distorted bass and the percussive drum section that bellows and keeps up with it. The muted guitar chunks along, waiting patiently to unleash in all its glory. The vocals acquire space on a whole different plane, carrying a melancholic gloom while still having that slight ethereal reverb. When the distorted guitar kicks in you can't help but hold on to your nearest anchor. The riff is almost Jerry Cantrell-esque and swells with the pride of grunge. Joseph Turner and the Dudes of Hazard-Backbone

You are taken straight to the earth with Joseph Turner and the Dudes of Hazard bringing a new single. "Backbone" opens with a scenic setting, and you always know the human spirit is the spine of a lot of their music. As you hear the shovel hit the gravel, you are transported to the setting almost instantly. With a minimal acoustic background on the guitar, the bass drum keeps a steady pulse at the tempo of the song. Don't worry about it turning into a softer acoustic anthem. The stomp carries the theme, and it stands strong. You can almost hear the crowd going wild for this when it's played live. “Backbone” just shows how versatile Joseph Turner and his crew are when it comes to making music that makes you feel truly alive.
