Chantal Acda-Heads (Radio Edit)
A spiritual gateway into otherworldly sounds. That is what Chantal Acda has sliced a portal into with Heads. Close to half the length of her original single, which is an epic–this version is able to capture the darkness in many layers. As the single note proceeds to foretell doom, Chantal Acda is able to bring some relief to this after adding to the tar like darkness it carries originally. The chorus is soothing and hopeful, however, shades of monotony present in generous layers in this as well. It is the kind of theme that is accented by the kind of textured percussion that plays in the background, adding to the tones of impatient impermanence that are being detailed in this song. The head turner, here for you:
John Kolar-Tie My Shoes
However long he took, it's worth it. From the moment you press play, that tone takes you to paradise, in a second. John Kolar is releasing his second single, and the debut was a gem. He had to one-up, so he did. Tie My Shoes is a song that makes a musician envious and proud, for the kind of composition he has been able to create. It is a swirling, soft whirlpool of whipped cream and marshmallow fluff. Adorned by motifs as sprinkles–this is your deep dive of a treat, before you welcome that sugar coma. The sound fills every void in your head, forget the ear canals alone. That is the depth of the lyrics as well, and how he delivers it really settles in like dense maple syrup on a day you’re feeling down. Dopamine, with a dash of dread:
Ava Valianti-Laugh Track
She’s armed with her powerful compositional skills, and a punchline folded in. Laugh Track is a brilliant return from the singer-songwriter, who has some passionate insight into her own life. This is the kind of tune that reflects the time we live in, while having a mark of progress in your compositional skills. Her vocals are passionate, yet have the central narrative through TV shows she references with an edge. She has been able to capture her emotions through what characters portray, while presenting her real state through this song. The bass is scrumptious, for there are pockets you’re only listening to her vocals, keys and the bass. I’m not crying for this laugh track, you are:
